Week 5 stem

We did our stem again today.  Today the goal was to get into groups each person must come up with a design them you must discuss which design you are choosing to make.
One group worked really well they talked as a group and each person had a design they combined all the designs and finished their product.

I also gave time limits this week so most groups did not complete the constructions because they ran out of time.

The goal for next week is that tamariki will manage their time better and finish their item

Week 4

Hi

This week we started to do STEM using ice block sticks to make things. WALT work together
listen to other people's ideas.

This did not go too well, most groups only one person spoke and they just went with that idea.
Here are some of our constructions.
We will try again next week.

Term 3

Hi

Term 3 Room 3 has been working really hard this term.  We have started off with making our classroom a safe and happy place to be in.  Which means we all have a role to play to make it a place we want to be in.

We are also having energizer breaks throughout the day.  We learned some quick activities off Matua Tupara.

Week 11

Today we did a stem challenge.  You had to build the tallest tower using two materials, plastic cups and ice block sticks.
The main purpose of the activity was to work as a team, there was only one group that didn't manage to work as a group.
There were some awesome towers being built, what tamariki did not do was measure there structures until they only had 5 minutes till completion.  We are going to have another go tomorrow at perfecting our towers.

Week 8

This week we started with 13 tamariki, the most we had in one day was 16.
All tamariki were excited to be back and meet up with their friends again.
Tamariki were able to follow the routines that had been set up for week 6 & 7.
It has helped that we have three breaks during the day.
All tamariki are using their waka hoe to help them in their learning and behaviour in class.
We are trying to finish off all our work.

Week 4

We started week 4 off with a walk up Tauanui I was so proud of the effort that room 3 tamariki put into climbing the maunga beating there teacher to the top, and still had the energy to run down the maunga.  It was also a very sad time to see Kereru so dry.

We finished off the week with our assembly here are some of the presentations.  Check out the individual blogs from room 3.

Presentations by Dallas-Rae  I am so proud of the effort he has put into his Mahi

Week 3

Another hot week at Tautoro School this week, we have started getting into our classroom routines and preparing ourselves for our assembly in week 4.  We have been trying to finish our growth mindset presentations.

We have also started presentations on The Treaty of Waitangi.  Check out all toom 3 blogs so you can see all their work.

Week 2

Week two is over and what a scorching week it was.  Thank goodness we have an air-conditioned classroom.   Room 3 is still settling into routines as we still have about 10 children that have not returned.   Hopefully week 3  everyone returns to school and then we can set routines and everyone will know how things run.

Here are some photo's of room 3 working hard on their Chromebooks.

Room 3 2020

Welcome back  Room 3 Tautoro School, we still have a few students to come back from their holidays.  The tamariki that have been here came, back ready to learn and excited for another year at school.
The first thing we are going to concentrate on is changing or growth mindset.

WALT have a good mindset

Success Criteria:

I will turn a negative thought or comment into a positive one.
Instead of saying I'll never be as smart as my friend:

  • I will ask them for help to help me work it out.
  • I will watch what they are doing

I am rubbish at this:

  • I am going to do my best
  • What can I do to improve
  • get more information so I can do it
  • ask for help
  • put more effort into my work
